CDBG Program

The U.S. Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) program is a federally funded program administered by the US Housing and Urban Development Department (HUD).  The Village of Lake Orion participates in the Oakland County CDBG urban county program.

As a participant in the program, the village is an entitlement community that receives approximately $9,000 in grant funding annually to undertake projects that primarily benefit low to moderate income families, senior citizens, and disabled persons within the village's CDBG-eligible area.  The village engages the public each year in the selection of projects and completes and submits the annual funding application to the county.  The application process begins with the county application workshop in early September and culminates with the filing of the application in early December.  The village council conducts a public hearing on the proposed projects prior to completing and submitting the application.
